Like our winemaker Christian Chandler, Michael Meek is a Pacific Northwesterner from Seattle. Inspired by his grandfather’s travels exploring wines around the world, Michael founded the Meek Family Estate in 2000. Now owned and operated by Inland Desert Nursery, the Meek Vineyard is known for growing hearty grapes that are crafted into big bold red wines.
At Inland Desert Nursery the Judkins Family has over 40 years of experience cultivating 150 acres of grape vines draping across rolling hills in Benton City, Washington. Kevin from Inland Desert shared his deep commitment to heritage plant stock, “Inland Desert Nursery’s relationship with the Clean Plant Center of the Northwest at Washington State University and Foundation Plant Services at UC Davis means our certified vines are only a generation or two away from foundation-sourced cuttings indexed as disease free and true to type.”
Kevin’s carefully tended mother vines provided the grapes for our delicious, hand-crafted Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot wines. Reserve yours today. We are so excited for you to try it at our release party on September 8th!
Every day is a drink-the-good-wine day!
Caelestis Cellars 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon tasting notes:
Our Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are sourced from the Meek Vineyard in Benton City, Washington’s Yakima Valley AVA. This wine was aged 75% in new French oak barrels and 25% in new Oregon oak barrels for 16 months to create a sultry and sophisticated full-bodied wine. Featuring a deep purple color, rich tannins, and flavors of blackberry, white pepper, and subtle tobacco, this wine pairs beautifully with marbled Delmonico steaks and baked potatoes. This bottle should age well. Expect this wine to grow into a big, bold red with rich tannins to give you years of drinking enjoyment.
Caelestis Cellars 2020 Merlot tasting notes:
Our Merlot grapes are sourced from the Meek Vineyard in Benton City, Washington’s Yakima Valley AVA. This wine was aged in 33% new French oak barrels and 67% new Oregon oak barrels for 14 months to become smooth and fruit-forward. Boasting a brilliant ruby color, this wine resonates with gentle spice, black cherry, and leather flavors that pair well with grass-fed ribeye or barbecued pork.
These wines are showstoppers! You will love them!
