From Coffee to Wine

I am Christian Chandler, the Caelestis Cellars co-founder, and winemaker. My passion for wine was born from my 25-year career in coffee. Learning about coffee has helped me to hone my technical expertise and refine my palate, skills that translate gracefully into winemaking. Great wine, like great coffee, is a result of similar factors: microclimate, soil composition, farm practices, harvest timing, and fruit processing. Most importantly, both coffee-roasting and winemaking require meticulous attention to quality and details. You will discover these elements in the mouthfeel, fullness of flavor, and balanced acidity in the wines we craft.

Our inspiration

After a trip to the Canadian Okanagan to visit the hundreds of small family wineries, heady with the aroma of rich oak cradling fermenting yeast and inspired by the acres of twisting vines heavy with fruit, I wanted to learn more about the ancient art of winemaking. I studied Viticulture and Enology at Washington State University. There I created the blueprint of a small, family-run, urban neighborhood winery sourcing the finest grapes from throughout the Pacific Northwest: Caelestis Cellars.

Exploration of northwest grapes

Our location in northern Oregon allows us to source fruit from growing regions throughout the Pacific Northwest. When I select grapes for wines to share with our members, I look for sustainable growing practices, healthy vines, and interesting varieties. From the first sip, you’ll know that you are drinking something special. We can’t wait to explore each wine with you!

Every day is a drink-the-good-wine day

For thousands of years, people have come together to celebrate the abundance that nature provides over a glass of wine. We make outstanding, hand-crafted wines, but we don’t think wine should be snobby, pretentious, or aloof. Caelestis Cellars aspires to build connections with our community by enjoying a glass of wine with our friends, neighbors, and guests from far away. Settle in, have a taste, and share a laugh with us.
