It is our anniversary and almost harvest time!!

By Kim Silva, co-founder

Our winemaker Christian Chandler is very excited about how nice the Pinot Noir grapes are looking this year.

Hello, friends!

September marks our third harvest and the one-year anniversary of our first wine release. Yahoo!!!

First and foremost, I have to gush over all of you, our treasured members and customers. Our dream for this winery was to create and share low-intervention, hand-crafted wine in an urban micro-winery. We hoped to bring people together to personally share our wines in a celebratory and leisurely atmosphere. For a year, we have been doing exactly this with you. It has been an absolute delight!

Christian and I are truly humbled by your enthusiasm for our wines, and grateful that you are right along with us as we explore our region’s prized grapes. There’s more to come! We absolutely love having this adventure with you!  THANK YOU!!!!!

We have been zipping around Oregon and Washington the last few weekends to measure the sugar content of the grapes and check on their progress. In this video, Christian shows how he measures the sugar content and what that means. We expect to harvest the Pinot Noir grapes next week!

Christian explains how he tests the sugars in grapes.

We also visited the Viognier and Syrah grapes in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA and the Tempranillo grapes in the Oregon side of the Walla Walla AVA. They are also close to being ready but will come later in September. And, please send us good vibes so we don’t have bears visiting our grapes again this year. That succulent juice needs to go into our wine!

All of this means that over the next six weeks or so, we will be harvesting, pressing, and fermenting the grapes…the start to another year of amazing Pacific Northwest wines!

May your last few days of summer be filled with good people, delicious food, and fine wine.

Every day is a drink-the-good-wine-day!

Warm hugs,
Kim
